  As a national historical and cultural city with a history of human activities for over 1 million years and a construction history of over 2,300 years, Huzhou is the only southern city famous for its lakes around the Taihu Lake. Its jurisdiction includes Wuxing and Nanxun districts, Deqing, Changxing and Anji Counties, with an area of 5,820 square kilometers and a permanent resident population of 2.98 million (among which 2.65 million people are registered residents). In recent years, the city has successively won the honorary titles of National Model City for Environmental Protection, National Sanitary City, National Garden City, China's Outstanding Tourist City, China's Charming City, one of the top hundred cities for Comprehensive Strength in China, National Forest City and the happiest city in China. Besides, it has become the first municipal demonstration area of ecological civilization around the country. 

  Convenient transportation and obvious location advantage 

  Located in the center of the Yangtze River Delta region, Huzhou is the node city connecting the north and south areas of the Yangtze River Delta region, as well as the East and Central China. It is also the hinterland of Hangzhou, Shanghai and Nanjing, 75, 130 and 220 kilometers away from the three cities respectively. It has a national first-class railway and highway networks, the lines passing it include Nanjing-Hangzhou high-speed railway, Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou high-speed railway (built by 2020), Huzhou-Suzhou-Hangzhou high-speed railway (built around 2020), Xuancheng-Hangzhou railway, and G25 Changchun-Shenzhen highway, G50 Shanghai-Chongqing highway, S12 Shanghai-Jiaxing-Huzhou highway, S13 Lian-Yuhang highway, S14 Hangzhou-Changsha highway, 104 and 318 national highways. With the "Little Eastern Rhine River" -- Changsha-Shanghai-Huzhou Channel and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, which has been inducted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, crossing the region, the inland waterway transportation ports add more convenience of transportation to this city. 

  Gathering of talents and profound culture heritage

   Huzhou is the source region of silk, writing brush, tea, porcelain and liquor, and is a land of silk, fish and rice, and culture for a long time. As a saying goes in Song Dynasty, "People in China would benefit when the rice in Suzhou and Huzhou is ripe." Hubi, the first material of the Four Treasures of the Study (writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and paper), refers to the writing brush originating in Huzhou. Qianshanyang Site is known as the source region of the world's silk and revealed the history of raising silkworm and making silk of over 4,000 years. "Husi"(silk produced in Huzhou) won the gold award at the first Expo held in London in 1851, taking its first step to participate Expo. Chinese Tea Saint Lu Yu completed The Classic of Tea -- the world's first masterpiece related to tea in Huzhou. The city has worshiped culture and education for long, and has cultivated lots of famous talents including Cao Buxing, Meng Jiao, Zhao Mengfu, Shen Jiaben, Wu Changshuo, Shen Yinmo. It has attracted lots of celebrities, especially those setting their style in calligraphy and painting, like Wang Xizhi, Yan Zhenqing, Su Shi, leading a saying that “Half of the famous persons in the Chinese calligraphy and painting history come from Huzhou”. This city had seen 19 scholars and 1500 Jinshi (a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations) since the Tang and Song Dynasties. A total of 40 academicians in the Chinese academies of Science and Engineering come from Huzhou since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. 

  Beautiful Landscape and ecological environment

   "Mountains are continuous from Mt. Tianmu, rivers flow from Taihu Lake. Huzhou comes to the final choice to live in after walking through the beautiful Jiangnan region." This is a poem to praise the most pleasant environment in this city by Dai Yuanbiao, a poet in Yuan Dynasty, and also portrays its ecological environment nowadays. Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping put forwarded the important thought that “Lucid water and lush mountains are invaluable assets” for the first time during his visit to Anji, Huzhou in 2005. After that, the city has been regarded as the birth place of this important thought, the home of China's beautiful countryside, the pioneering area of ecology plus and the ecological conservation area around the Taihu Lake Basin. Its landmark "Double Towers" Feiying Tower is built aloft overlooking the landscape of lakes, and the first Twin Buildings in the Yangtze River Delta region Dongwu International is set upright in the downtown. One of the best global buildings -- the Moon Hotel shines within Huzhou Taihu Tourism Resort. As to the jurisdictional areas, Nanxun Ancient Town is one of the Chinese top ten charming ancient towns well-known home and abroad; Mogan Summer Resort and Xiazhu Lake Wetland are located in Deqing County; Changxing County is home to the ancient ecological wonders such as the Ten-mile Gingko Corridor, Yangtze alligators and the Global Stratotype Section and Point; Anji, home to the Chinese Bamboo and the first ecological county in China, has the first Hello Kitty Amusement Park around the country. 

  Harmonious society and robust development momentum

   In recent years, Huzhou has constantly achieved a rapid sustained and coordinated development in the economy and society. In 2016, it made a year-on-year increase of 7.5% to reach a GDP of 224.3 billion yuan, with a per capita GDP of 84,875 yuan (or 12,778 dollar) and gained the total financial revenue of 36.1 billion yuan. The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents was 45,794 yuan and 26,508 yuan respectively (1.73:1), making it as one of the regions with the smallest urban-rural gap. Thanks to the social good stability and order, Huzhou topped the list of the residents' sense of safety, satisfaction and happiness in Zhejiang Province. Currently, Huzhou has strived for creating a modernized ecological lakeside city with high quality and building a moderately prosperous society in all respects at a high level by sticking to the thought that " Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", earnestly implementing the "Eight-eight Strategy" (refers to the eight advantages of the development in Zhejiang Province and the eight measures towards the outlook) put forward by Zhejiang Party Committee and Government, completing drawing the whole blueprint and surpassing development driven by the "Five Development Philosophy" (innovation, harmonization, green development, openness and sharing).
