Post Time:2017-07-25 Browse Number: Font:[ Big In Small ]

Deqing Celadon Kiln Complex, which is located at Deqing County, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, was a main producer of Deqing porcelain during the Six Dynasties. Discovered in the early 1980s, the site contains remains of porcelain products. This ancient kiln complex covers primitive celadon kilns from the late Shang and early Zhou Dynasties to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, as well as porcelain kilns in the Eastern Han Dynasty and the Sui and Tang Dynasties. Of those unearthed primitive celadon porcelains, some were daily utensils characterized by commercialized mass production; the others were funeral goods bearing close resemblance to bronze sacrificial vessels. Seen as the source of porcelain, these archaeological discoveries have great significance not only to the history of porcelain but also to the civilization of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties. The production and development of primitive porcelain represents an important contribution of the ancient Yue people to Chinese civilization and the world history as well.

In May, 2013, this site was put on the list of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Under National Protection.
