Huzhou is called 'home to silk' and was once famous for the silk produced in Jili. Silk produced in Huzhou was awarded in the world's first exhibition held in London in 1851, the Italian Industrial Expo (1911), and the 1915 Panama Pacific International Expo. The Huzhou silk received a special award in China's first West Lake Expo in 1930.
